Successfully completed sea trials | SPP40 PSV
Recently, the first SPP40 platform supply vessel equipped with the CSSC Saithillion (赛思亿) containerized battery system successfully completed its sea trials, marking a new stage in the advancement of green ship propulsion technology.
During the trials, the technical team from CSSC Saithillion worked closely with the shipowner and the classification society, ensuring the smooth and stable execution of the entire process.

As a new-generation environmentally friendly PSV, the SPP40 integrates a replaceable containerized lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery system independently developed by CSSC Saithillion into its electric propulsion system design. The system has a battery capacity of 1,935 kWh, offering both flexibility and high efficiency.
The system adopts a hybrid configuration combining diesel-electric propulsion with new-energy battery technology. It retains the energy-efficiency advantages of conventional electric propulsion while incorporating the rapid response capability of battery systems, achieving dual improvements in overall vessel energy efficiency and electrical safety. Its core functions include:
Blackout prevention support: In the event of a sudden generator failure, the battery responds instantly to ensure continuous power supply to the onboard grid
Dynamic support: Absorbs power fluctuations caused by sudden load changes and rapid propeller load increases or shedding
Peak shaving and valley filling: Optimizes generator loading, ensuring operation within the most efficient and economical range
Zero-emission port operation: Supports pure battery mode, enabling zero-pollution operation while in port

International Recognition for CSSC Saithillion’s Containerized Battery System

Previously, CSSC Saithillion was awarded the world’s first Type Approval Certificate for a containerized battery system by Bureau Veritas (BV).
To date, leveraging its strong technological innovation capabilities, CSSC Saithillion has achieved full in-house coverage across its product portfolio, including self-developed battery packs (S-Pack)—with modules compatible with brands such as CATL and EVE Energy—containerized battery systems (S-Container), and BMS battery management systems. All of these products have successfully obtained type approvals from both China Classification Society (CCS) and Bureau Veritas (BV), two major international classification societies, pioneering an innovative “Battery System +” solution for marine propulsion.
Multiple technological breakthroughs, such as “S-DE diesel-electric propulsion + battery system” and “S-Shaft shaft generator + battery system”, are opening up broad prospects for the green development of ships and laying a solid foundation for CSSC Saithillion to further expand into domestic and international green shipping markets.
