Recently, another flagship electric vessel demonstration project by CSSC SAYS-Y — China’s first fully transparent sightseeing pure electric marine tourism vessel, named “Lujiang Reception Hall”, has officially commenced.
The project is funded and constructed by Xiamen Wheel Ferry Marine Passenger & Tourism Co., Ltd. and serves as part of the “2030 Green and Intelligent Coastal & Inland Demonstration Ship” program initiated by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). It is notably the only pure electric sightseeing vessel among the program’s marine projects.
The “Lujiang Reception Hall” embodies the concepts of independent innovation and green development, featuring an exterior design that combines the elegant silhouette of white mountain peaks with traditional Minnan architectural elements. This unique design highlights both functionality and regional cultural aesthetics. Upon completion, the vessel will be deployed on Xiamen’s marine tourism routes, marking a significant step forward in sustainable maritime tourism.

The “Lujiang Reception Hall” is designed with a length of 46.9 meters and a beam of 15 meters, equipped with a 5,487 kWh lithium battery system and a maximum passenger capacity of 300 people. The entire vessel’s battery capacity of 5,487 kWh is integrated through CSSC SAYS-Y’s centralized DC bus frequency-conversion control system, powering two 600 kW main propulsion motors. With a single full charge, the vessel can achieve a maximum range of 70 nautical miles.
The core “three-electric” system (battery, electric drive, and control) is fully developed and led by CSSC SAYS-Y, featuring key proprietary equipment developed under its independent intellectual property rights. CSSC SAYS-Y is also responsible for the entire process, including system commissioning and final delivery.
The vessel is expected to enter operation in the Xiamen waters by 2026, offering a new, eco-friendly marine tourism experience.
Once again, by securing a national-level demonstration project, CSSC SAYS-Y demonstrates its strong confidence and technological leadership. Since its debut in the maritime industry with China’s first DC grid electric-propulsion scientific research vessel, “Shen Kuo”, CSSC SAYS-Y has continuously advanced through challenges, achieving multiple provincial, national, and even global “first vessel” and “first project” milestones.

CSSC SAYS-Y has achieved a series of industry-first milestones, including China’s first DC-grid inland river cruise ship “Victoria Katarina Hyatt”, the first domestically developed hybrid power system exported overseas for the Swedish chemical tankers “TERN ISLAND,” “TERN FORS,” “TERN VIK,” and “TERN LAND”, and the world’s largest battery-capacity pure electric inland passenger vessel “Yangtze River Three Gorges 1”. Other notable achievements include China’s first pure electric inland container vessel with battery-swapping capability “Jiangyuan Baihe”, the first hybrid diesel-electric intelligent tugboat “Qinggang Tuo 1”, and the nation’s first hydrogen-electric tugboat “Hydrogen Tuo 1”, which boasts the highest horsepower and largest lithium battery capacity. The company also delivered China’s first large-scale pure electric offshore sightseeing vessel “Yu Jian 77”, the first professional offshore satellite launch engineering vessel “Dongfang Aerospace Port”, the first 40-meter-class hybrid pilot vessel “Yonggang Yin 02”, the first 3,000-ton-class pure electric inland container ship “Ganghang Chuantu 01”, the first intelligent-certified mobile offshore survey platform “Zhongnanyuan 520”, and the first battery-swapping cargo vessel converted from oil to electric “Yuetong Zhujiang 001” — all marking CSSC SAYS-Y’s leading role in advancing China’s green and intelligent shipbuilding innovation.

CSSC SAYS-Y has also delivered a number of regional firsts, including Qinghai Province’s first lithium battery-powered vessel “Yaochi”, Heilongjiang Province’s first pure electric passenger ship “Leading Star”, Fujian’s first pure electric passenger vessel “Jasmine”, and Zhejiang Province’s first batch of pure electric cargo ships “Wuxing Ruigang 001/003/005/007”. In addition, the company is currently delivering Fujian’s first pure electric official patrol vessel and Guangzhou’s first holographic-projection new-energy sightseeing ship. From inland waterways to offshore operations, and from passenger and cargo transportation to engineering and governmental patrol vessels, CSSC SAYS-Y continues to drive innovation in marine power systems and promote industrial upgrading through a series of “first-of-its-kind” and “milestone” demonstration projects. The company remains at the forefront of China’s electric vessel industry, offering a “China Solution” for the global green transformation of the maritime sector, and empowering the sustainable development of the world’s shipping industry with the solid strength and superior quality of “Made in China.”
