On April 22, the 15,000-DWT LNG dual-fuel chemical tanker “TERN VIK”, equipped with a hybrid power system from CSSC Ship Electric Technology Co.,Ltd., was successfully delivered to Swedish shipowner Terntank for operation. This is the third vessel delivered by CSSC SWS to Terntank and built by CIMC Raffles Yangzhou Dingheng Shipyard, following the successful operation of the first vessel “TERN ISLAND” and the second “TERN FORS”, both of which have been running smoothly for nearly four years. These vessels have earned high recognition from both the shipowner and the shipyard.

“TERN VIK” has a total length of 147 meters, a beam of 22 meters, a service speed of 14.5 knots, and a range of 6,600 nautical miles. It is classed by Bureau Veritas (BV). CSSC SWS provided system design and the manufacturing of the core DC-link system for the hybrid power solution. The system includes a 424 kWh battery pack, a 1,000 kW permanent magnet shaft generator, variable frequency load drives, high-quality daily power supply units, high-voltage shore power access, and an Energy Management System (EMS). The hybrid power system supports both PTO (Power Take-Off) and PTH (Power Take-Home) functions with intelligent mode switching. The vessel's EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index) is 40% lower than the 2025 Phase III standard, achieving not only multi-condition energy efficiency and environmental protection but also enhanced operational safety.

Since 2020, when CSSC SWS first partnered with Terntank—marking the first export of domestically manufactured equipment and the company's first step onto the international stage—it has built 7 vessels over 5 years, with two repeat orders from the client. Recognized and trusted by Terntank, CSSC SWS has grown from serving domestic Chinese vessels to serving global fleets.

To date, CSSC Ship Electric Technology Co.,Ltd. has delivered over 610 vessels globally, including more than 85 international vessels serving countries such as Sweden, Norway, Germany, France, Indonesia, Singapore, Greece, the Netherlands, and Thailand. The global reach of CSSC SWS continues to expand.
Looking ahead, CSSC Ship Electric Technology Co.,Ltd. will accelerate its internationalization strategy and continue to contribute Chinese strength to the green development of global shipping.
